Cambridge, Ontario – November 2025 – ATS Industrial Automation, a global leader in automated tooling for nuclear power plants and facilities, and Onet Technologies, a key player in nuclear engineering and services, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to collaborate on the deployment of an advanced laser cutting system for nuclear waste segmentation in the North America. Under the terms of the MOU, Onet will work closely with ATS to supply and integrate a laser cutting system into ATS’ automated systems. This collaboration aims to enhance the segmentation of large components, reactor internals and pressure vessels from Pressurized Water Reactors (PWR) and Boiling Water Reactors (BWR), supporting the safe and efficient decommissioning of nuclear facilities.

The collaboration will explore the application of laser cutting technology—leveraging ATS’ proven automated technologies—to deliver precise, remote-operated solutions for complex waste segmentation tasks. This initiative underscores both companies’ commitment to innovation, safety, and environmental stewardship in the nuclear sector.

Laser technology is particularly well suited to the current challenges of decommissioning in France and internationally. In a market where many reactors and nuclear facilities around the world are reaching the end of their operating cycle and where decommissioning must be industrialized, this partnership will help strengthen these capabilities.
